Discuss Project

What I do with Drupal

Drupal is a powerful and flexible CMS for projects where security, scalability and complex logic matter: corporate portals, government and educational sites, multilingual platforms and online stores. I handle full-cycle Drupal development - from architecture design to launch and ongoing support.

Over years of practice I've worked with every current version - Drupal 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11: building custom modules and themes, integrating third-party services, optimizing performance and running migrations from legacy versions without losing data or search rankings.

I work as an independent developer - you communicate directly with me, with no middlemen or account managers. Transparent reporting, clear deadlines and full responsibility for the result.

Drupal problems I solve

Focus on Drupal 11 - the current core - and on long-term Drupal 7 support until a safe migration. Below are typical technical issues I take on: upgrades, performance, WSOD, security and integrations.

Issue 01

Drupal 7 to Drupal 11 migration

Full rebuild from EOL Drupal 7 without losing content, URLs or rankings

Drupal 7 reached end of life - staying on it is a security and hosting risk. A move to Drupal 11 is not a one-click upgrade: it is a content migration, a rewrite of custom modules for modern APIs, and a new theme on Twig. I plan the migration, map fields and entities, set up 301 redirects and go live with zero downtime where possible.

  • Audit of Drupal 7 modules, custom code and content structure
  • Content and user migration via Migrate API to Drupal 11
  • Rewrite of custom modules for Drupal 11 / Symfony APIs
  • Preserve Pathauto aliases, redirects and SEO metadata
  • Parallel staging environment and cutover checklist

Issue 02

Drupal 7 support until you migrate

Keep a legacy Drupal 7 site stable, patched and online

Not every project can migrate to Drupal 11 next month. I still support Drupal 7 sites: security patches where available, PHP version compatibility, backup strategy, performance fixes and emergency recovery - so the business keeps running while we prepare the Drupal 11 migration.

  • Security hardening and limited Drupal 7 patching
  • PHP / MySQL compatibility fixes on older hosts
  • Backup, monitoring and emergency WSOD recovery
  • Stabilise contrib module conflicts before migration
  • Roadmap and estimate for the move to Drupal 11

Issue 03

Slow Drupal 11 site and Core Web Vitals

Fix heavy Views, cache misses and a sluggish admin UI

A slow Drupal site usually comes from uncached Views, oversized entity queries, missing BigPipe / Dynamic Page Cache, or an overloaded admin with too many modules. I profile Drupal 11 (and Drupal 7 if needed), tune Redis / Memcache, fix Twig and assets, and get Core Web Vitals back into a healthy range.

  • Views and database query optimisation
  • Internal page cache, Dynamic Page Cache, BigPipe, Redis
  • Twig, CSS/JS aggregation and CDN setup
  • Admin UI speed-up after module bloat
  • Core Web Vitals (LCP, CLS, INP) improvements

Issue 04

WSOD, broken deploy and config sync

White screen of death, failed config import, stuck Drush updates

After a deploy or Composer update Drupal may show a white screen, PluginNotFoundException or a failed config import. I diagnose stack traces, fix custom plugins and services, resolve composer.lock conflicts and restore a clean config sync workflow for Drupal 10/11 projects.

  • WSOD diagnosis via logs, Twig cache and verbose error level
  • Fix PluginNotFoundException and deprecated API calls
  • Composer / Drupal 11 core and contrib updates safely
  • Config split, config ignore and CI-friendly sync
  • Drush updb / cr recovery after a failed release

Custom modules and themes for Drupal 11

Plugins, forms, services and Twig themes that follow modern APIs

Legacy hooks and procedural .module code break on Drupal 11. I build and refactor custom modules with dependency injection, plugins, forms and services - and themes on Twig with Layout Builder or Paragraphs - so the project stays maintainable on the latest core.

  • Custom modules with plugins, forms and services
  • Migrate custom D7/D8 code to Drupal 11 APIs
  • Twig themes, Layout Builder and Paragraphs
  • Content types, fields, Views and taxonomies
  • Code review of inherited custom modules

Issue 06

Drupal security updates and hacked site recovery

SA-CORE patches, malware cleanup and access hardening

Outdated core or contrib modules are the most common entry point for hacks - especially on unsupported Drupal 7. I apply security advisories on Drupal 11, clean malware, rotate credentials, harden file permissions and set a safe update process so the incident does not repeat.

  • Apply SA-CORE and contrib security updates
  • Malware / backdoor cleanup and file integrity check
  • Roles, permissions and admin access hardening
  • Secure Composer workflow and staging updates
  • Post-incident monitoring and backup plan

Issue 07

Multilingual Drupal and i18n issues

Broken language switcher, missing translations, wrong hreflang

Multilingual Drupal sites often break after module updates: untranslated strings, wrong language negotiation, Pathauto aliases per language or missing hreflang. I fix Content Translation, Interface Translation and Configuration Translation on Drupal 11 - and keep language structure intact during a Drupal 7 migration.

  • Content, interface and config translation setup
  • Language negotiation and language switcher fixes
  • Per-language Pathauto aliases and redirects
  • hreflang, canonical and sitemap for each locale
  • Preserve multilingual content in D7 → D11 migration

Issue 08

Drupal Commerce and CRM / ERP integrations

Orders, payments, stock sync and JSON:API / REST connectors

Drupal Commerce stores and portals need reliable checkout, payment gateways, tax rules and sync with CRM or ERP. I fix broken order flows, set up JSON:API / REST / GraphQL integrations and keep catalog and stock consistent - on Drupal 11 Commerce or while migrating a legacy Drupal 7 shop.

  • Drupal Commerce checkout, cart and order fixes
  • Payment gateways and VAT / tax configuration
  • CRM / ERP sync via JSON:API, REST or custom queues
  • Catalog, stock and price import automation
  • Migrate Drupal 7 Ubercart / Commerce to Drupal 11
